Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Mamamia journal is where I record my breast cancer journey and the things helping me improve every area of my life.

Great food 2019

Great food 2019

My view about life has been changed by the Breast Cancer experience. Previously I am more about saving and reserving for future. But now I think life is too short, we should enjoy when we can. This might align with J much better.

We had been to a Micheline’s 3 star restaurant before but I thought the price–performance ratio could be better (I am all about the ultimate balance - like a decent amount money delivering a great experience would be the best deal to me). So yes, Micheline’s 3 star restaurant's ability to deliver performance is great but comparing with the cost, then I would like to go to some good but less expensive restaurants.

- Ambience (Los Altos) Feb 15, 2019

To “celebrate” one year mark of surviving breast cancer, we went to a fancy restaurant in Los Altos - Ambience. It is nice - great food and the atmosphere is romantic. And it is one of those nice restaurants that I would like to and would be able to come back to. I could’t recall when it was last time J and I went out romantic dinner. It is a bit late (8:30 reservation) and J is a bit tired too - with the kids, we normally are in bed time routine by 9:30pm. Nevertheless, it is still super nice just sit there and chatted about things, with great food rotating in and out. For J’s bday in march, I also planned for a fancy dinner so I will compare.

- Cliff House (San Francisco) Feb 2019

We went to Cliff House for our Date Day in Feb and it was so nice. The sun was out and even though we didn’t get the best seat as we got the last window seats so it was a bit closer to beach but the view is still stunning. It is just very different to enjoy the food with a spectacular view and of course Date Day brought up some great atmosphere. The Eggs SF (Benedict with crab) was good but the Shakshuka was just so so.

- Manresa (Los Gatos) March 16, 2019

It is J’s big birthday so we have to do it in a big way. It is definitely worthy the money we spent but being the parents who normally get to bed at 10pm, we are just a bit too tired towards the end. With our style, this is definitely something we would do only once in a long while. But definitely worth to be in everyone’s list to give it a try.

- Kyosho (Menlo Park) March 26 lunch and April 5 dinner

We came to Kyosho for lunch with the kids so didn’t try their Omasake that time but already appreciate the good food they had. I went with one of my friend since he only comes to US a couple times per year for dinner. We both love Japanese food so we ordered Omasake and we were in heaven.

- Demiya (West San Jose) May 18, 2019

We came to Demiya for lunch with the kids at their opening time and there were a line already, which really shows how popular it is. We ordered the Tonkatsu Curry and Curry Udon and both are very good. The kids also enjoyed the Salmon Onigiri a lot. Definitely want to come back!

- Dad’s Lunchenoette @Half Moon Bay, CA, April 28, 2019

Too bad I didn’t take photos as it is Jia and I trying to get two hungry kids in the little shack behaved. Here is a link to see the yummy sandwiches at Yelp
